New transportation of deer in Sardinia

03 February 2017

Last February 3, five specimens of Sardinian - Corse Deer were transferred in the mountains of Sardinia to repopulate the Ogliastra region in the town of Seui. The specimens had been captured in the previous days in Costa Verde, where their number is more abundant. The operation began with the capture and permanence of the specimens in isolated zone in Arbus. After passing the required health checks (like extremely important Bluetongue disease and Brucellosis) it was possible to start transfer operation.

The transfer operation and liberation was carried perfectly as planned. To the two adult females was applied radio collar to monitor their behavior in the new territory.
